The Great Migration in Tanzania

The Great Migration

This incredible natural wonder of the world is an ongoing event that never really ends, as its path is determined by the availability of food.

Starting in the Serengeti in January an incredible 1.4 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras give birth to their young. The grass is shorter at this time, so the new parents can keep an eye out for lurking predators. At the end of the rains, the heard moves towards to the Masai Mara in Kenya, arriving there in the Summer. Then, chasing the rainy season again, the herd will make its way back to the Serengeti in late fall and winter.

The route does not come without its dangers as these brave animals will have to cross crocodile infested waters, and always have the threat of the predators that follow them.
